Shannon Kinney is a senior consultant, project director and social media leader at the AIM Group. She has more than 20 years of experience in key roles at major media companies, including several of the leading dot-coms in the classified advertising industry.

Professional pedigree

Shannon Kinney

Before joining the AIM Group full-time, she was general manager of the real estate channel at Boston.com, the online site of the Boston Globe, where she was responsible for sales and sales strategy development, product development and platform creation.

Previously, Kinney was senior director of product development and classifieds at Knight Ridder Digital, where she was part of the Knight Ridder team that brokered and implemented the acquisition of CareerBuilder. She was responsible for all online product development of the Knight Ridder Web sites and the Real Cities network, a national advertising network of media Web sites. At KR Digital, she led development of a comprehensive publishing platform that included content management, consumer facing experience and the back end administration tools. She also led the development of the Knight Ridder online classifieds platform; a version of the system is still in use today.

Kinney played an instrumental role in the start-up and management of Cars.com, one of the most successful automotive Web sites in the country. She worked with the Classified Ventures real estate properties: Apartments.com, Homescape and NewHomeNetwork.

Early adopter

She was an early adopter of the Internet and interactive media, and has 11 years of experience in product management and project management. She has a proven track record of implementation and revenue growth, including the rollout of Cars.com from inception to deployment at more than 150 markets and the launch of Real Cities Network in more than 60 markets.
In several of her roles, Kinney was responsible for budgets between $50 million and $75 million.

What you might not know about Shannon

She began her career in Maine, working in advertising sales, management and Web development at several newspapers including the Bangor Daily News, Portland Press Herald and the Bar Harbor Times. She is based in Maine, and is the mother of a spectacularly cute 1-year-old girl.
