Forbes shutting down auto site

Forbes is shutting down its automotive site and laying off its staff, according to a tidbits in blogs from Gawker, Silicon Alley Insider and confirmed by PaidContent.org.

Didn’t know Forbes had an auto site? Well… there you go.

ForbesAutos.com is powered by Dealix. Besides dealer listings, it featured vehicle reviews by Forbes staffers. They’re not the only casualties, according to reports. Forbes is also shuttering its ForbesTraveler travel site and its convention business unit. (Conventions will be now run out of the marketing department.)

The only silver lining, if there is one, is that perhaps Waterloo, Ontario auto dealer ForbesAuto.com (no plural “s”) won’t have nearly as much misdirected traffic.
