Israeli classified sites battle online
The battle between Israeli classified Web sites is heating up again. A few weeks ago, we reported on recruitment site Drushim’s link up with CareerBuilder.com.
Now general classified ad portal WinWin, a unit of the Hebrew-language news portal Ynet (itself a division of Israel’s leading print daily “Yediot Ahronot”) has unveiled a total site redesign. WinWin is taking aim at Yad2 (“second hand” in Hebrew), its main competitor. WinWin launched two years ago.
The new WinWin site improves navigation, increases links between Ynet and WinWin, has better search and adds maps to apartment listings. Prominent trends are now displayed on listing pages, such as which car model had the most sales, or the average price of apartments.
WinWin is fighting a feature-by-feature battle. Last month, Yad2 launched a free pricelist of used cars aimed at competing against WinWin’s list.
A TIM survey for December 2008 ranked Yad2 in 12th place in terms of overall Internet usage in Israel, with a weekly exposure rate of 19.3 percent. The survey did not cover WinWin.
