22 percent of the entire Internet has visited Facebook

More than one in five of the entire Internet population has been to Facebook. That’s the number from ComScore, which reported that in December, 222 million people visited the site, or 22 percent of the total Internet audience. That was also 10.8 percent higher than November.

Facebook now has nearly 100 million more users worldwide than MySpace, which stood at 125 million in December. The page view difference is even more dramatic – Facebook had 80 billion monthly page views in December v. 43 billion for MySpace. Six months ago, the sites were nearly the same.

MySpace is still on top in the U.S., (where the bulk of online ad revenues are) but if Facebook’s growth continues, TechCrunch predicts by this time next year, Facebook will be the king of the U.S. too.
