WaPo online rev up 7 percent, classifieds down 3 percent in Q4

The Washington Post Company reported earnings this week. Net income for Q4 08 was down 77 percent, but revenue rose slightly – 3 percent – to $1.16 billion. Within that, revenue from online publishing, primarily WashingtonPost.com, was up a bit more: 7 percent and display advertising was up 17 percent for 2008 and 10 percent for Q4.

Online classifieds didn’t do as well, down 3 percent for the year and 6 percent for the quarter.
