Real estate startup SmartZip raises $2 million

We don’t know what SmartZip.com does – the tight lipped startup only says it will be offering “real estate intelligence” – but three venture capital firms do and have put $2 million in the company. In today’s recession, that must mean the company is up to something interesting.

Venture Beat reported
that the tagline for the site was “know if a property is worth buying.” That’s been taken down since, replaced by a plain notice that company is in alpha testing.

If the company is planning a Zillow-like home valuation model, it will have its work cut out for it. So we’re expecting some kind of twist.

Now, let’s see if they’ll let us into the alpha.
