Gannett Digital Media Network to link online properties

Gannett is bundling up more than 100 digital communities into the Gannett Digital Media Network which will have a combined reach of some 25 million people. The aim is to allow advertisers to easily post to multiple platforms at once, but we can easily imagine it extending to classifieds as well.

The network will be led by USAToday.com. Other newspaper properties mentioned by Gannett in its release were AZCentral.com and IndyStar.com, as well as local community networks MomsLikeMe, HighSchoolSports.net, city guide Metromix and BNQT.com.

Several social media related sites purchased by Gannett last year will play central roles in the network: PointRoll will serve rich media ads, Ripple6 will handle marketing tools and analytics, and e-commerce service ShopLocal will also be involved.
