Buckmaster drops names of sites worse than Craigslist
In the ongoing soap opera between Craigslist and South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster, Craigslist CEO Jim Buckmaster this week posted on the company’s blog a blistering attack entitled “An Apology is in Order.”
The gist of Buckmaster’s counterattack was the number of other Web sites featuring adult services ads – far more than Craigslist, he claims. And Buckmaster names names (and links) to 11 offending sites. We’ll leave off the links here (it’s definitely NSFW – “not safe for work”) but the companies involved including Yahoo, Microsoft, AT&T, the Village Voice, AOL’s Yellow Pages and more. The full list is here on his blog.
“Do you really intend to launch a criminal investigation against the phone company?” Buckmaster chides.
“We would very much appreciate an apology at your very earliest convenience,” Buckmaster concludes. “As I’m sure would all of the other fine companies whose executives you’ve called out as criminals.”
