HR social network up for bid on EBay

“Interested in running a Human Resources social network? Lance [Haun] and I have great news. We are auctioning off HRM Today on eBay, later this week. We have built a great network, but we know there are other people who can take it to the next level.”

That’s how prolific HR blogger and SPHR-certified human resources professional Laurie Ruettimann first greeted the world this morning on her PunkRockHR.com blog.

HRM Today, a combination of events, forums, groups, and blogs of many voices, has 1700 followers on LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter, and 1200 of its own site members. The eBay auction will last for ten days. “We’ll start the bidding at $0 and see what happens,” posted Ruettiman. “Take a crack at the auction and you might wind up with something pretty amazing — a social network with engaged and amazing HR professionals!”

Ruettimann’s partner Lance Haun, an HR generalist, is owner of YourHRGuy.com . We first met them both at SHRM’s 2009 conference, where they were two of a panel of four HR bloggers, guiding other human resource professionals to successful blogging.

“The [HRMToday] community really needs a person (or people or company) that want to continue to grow and nurture the network,” blogged Haun. “ There is obviously huge potential here but Laurie and I both realized we wanted to move in a different direction from that and owed it to the people who have joined, contributed content, and have as big of hopes as we do to find someone that is interested in making that happen.”

The sale includes HrmToday.com, Network.HrmToday.com, and Blogs.HrmToday.com .
