DFW BlastOff Network launches

Blastoff Network, in partnership with The Dallas Morning News and Belo-owned WFAA TV, just announced the launch of DFWblastoff.com, a new online portal that offers a single-site experience for local consumers.

Using the portal engine of BlastoffNetwork.com, the partnership developed DFWblastoff.com, a local customizable internet portal featuring lifestyle content, local news and information from The Dallas Morning News and WFAA, the Belo Corp. owned, ABC television affiliate in Dallas/Fort Worth, and an online shopping mall featuring more than 400 well-known retailers. It also includes a cash-back program that pays members when their friends and family shop online through the site. Other features include videos and music, free retro games, sports and entertainment news.

Its social features allow users to create a network of friends. When these friends buy from advertised retailers the referring members make money.

“We are pleased to partner with The Blastoff Network, which gives us a unique way to engage with our local consumers,” said John McKeon, president and GM of The Dallas Morning News, in the announcement.  ”DFWblastoff.com gives readers a one-stop portal to shop local retailers and access our news and information portfolio.”

“The Internet and WFAA.com is a significant part of the television station’s overall news, information, advertising and retail strategy,” said Mike Devlin, WFAA president and general manager.  ”We believe this portal will provide additional opportunity for consumers to access WFAA-created content, and we are pleased to be connected to DFWblastoff.com.”

Founded in Texas in 2007, BlastoffNetwork provides its members with a way to save money shopping online and leveraging their professional and social networks. Members receive a customizable homepage and enjoy cash-back shopping from over 400 leading retailers like Travelocity, Gap and many others. Members also earn rewards as they invite friends and their network grows.
