YACLW offers ‘jobs’ for licensees

Here’s another twist on our YACLW theme. (That’s “yet another Craigslist wannabe,” for those of you who didn’t buy or read our 2010 Craigslist annual.)

Noah’s Classifieds, home of  Noahslist.com, is offering cities to licensees. They get to sell banners on the site; they have to police it to clean up ads. The site does not include information on how much it costs to license each city, but claims that it is creating “the Internet land rush … creating an estimated 43,000 jobs” by offering city sites for sale.

“Unlike a typical classified portal, which is generally operated externally, Noahslist.com gives users the locally-operated edge,” the company said in its news release.

It appears the site is compiling ads from  Oodle.com,  so at least it’s not empty. But we decided it wasn’t worth any more time when we looked at the sign-up form to become a licensee and found the following: “I accept these terms and wish to register my Iquirty [sic] to participate (potentially) in Noahlist.”

That was enough for us. YACLW with a twist, but no more valuable — at least not yet — than most of the other YACLWs we spy.

Here’s the company’s news release.
