Canadians can monitor Kijiji, Craigslist and Backpage all from one site
Canadians now have a new tool that makes it easier to stay on top of the top three general classifieds websites in the country. iSiteWatch lets you enter in search criteria (or “watchers” as the site calls it) for Kijiji, Craigslist and Backpage. iSiteWatch then updates you whenever results come in matching your keywords.
iSiteWatch is not a big time tool from a major classifieds player – it was developed by a computer science student at the University of Toronto – but it works well enough. In our test, it was fast and the interface was delightful (and we don’t dole out user experience praise that easily). The results come in simple text, as you’d expect from the sources iSiteWatch is scraping.
The developer, Bogdan Makovsky, says he mainly wanted to minimize the time he was spending searching for car parts online and noticing “that I was visiting the same sites everyday, looking for the same items.”
The site is running in all the major Canadian cities and is free. It’s not rocket science but it’s nevertheless a helpful service for Canadian classified searchers.
