Classified slump at Journal Communications
Journal Communication’s Q411 earnings report delivered unsurprising news that classified advertising revenue decreased 18.6 percent YOY largely due to a decrease in the real estate and automotive advertising categories. Digital ad dollar increases of 4.1 percent couldn’t offset the print advertising downturn. Circulation revenue was flat from that of Q411.
Community newspapers and shoppers revenue for the fourth quarter decreased 26.3 percent, as a result of the advertising slump and the sale of Florida papers and shoppers in 2011. In addition to the flagship Journal Sentinel in Milwaukee, the group’s 20 community publications are now all in Wisconsin. Here’s the complete earnings release.
