How do classified portals in Europe deal with mobile search? How popular is search for classifieds already among mobile users? Axel Springer in Germany to cooperate with Groupon?
There has not been an official confirmation yet, but rumours are out that Germany’s biggest daily, Bild, is going to cooperate with Groupon in Germany. The Media Blog Meedia writes that “internal sources at Axel Springer” have leaked the information. You find the full story in Germany language here.
Daily Deals are a big trend among German newspapers at the moment, quite some sites have been launched during the recent months and more are to come. So far publishers have refrained from cooperating with Groupon (that in Germany is very active for it acquired its quite successful clone Citydeals.de one year ago).
However, there is quite some likelyhood that Axel Springer is willing to work with Groupon. Just at the end of March 2011 it became known that Robert Bosch (39), who has held several managing positions in digital business at Axel Springer during the last ten years and has worked as Managing Director Business Development latest; has been appointed Senior Vice President Business Development EMEA at Groupon.
Schibsted releases annual report 2010 – Online classifieds represent 21 percent of total revenue
Schibsted Media Group has released its annual report for 2010. For the first time it’s only availabe in a web based version at Schibsted.com, and will no longer be available in print.
According to Schibsted Online Classifieds developed well in all markets in 2010. This business area experienced underlying growth in its operating revenues (adjusted for exchange-rate fluctuations, the closure of print publications and acquisitions and sales) of 23 percent. Online Classifieds meanwhile represent 21 percent of Schibsted’s overall revenue. You can find the detailed performance of the classifieds businesses here.

BARCELONA — What a huge crowd! More than 60,000 visitors from 200 countries attended the 2011 GSMA Mobile World Congress last week in Barcelona, marking a record for the mobile industry’s four-day conference and exhibition.
