Dice Talent Network links companies, tech professionals
Dice Q2 earnings up 33 percent
Increased recruitment activity at Dice.com and eFinancialCareers.com led to a 33 percent increase in net income during the second quarter for Dice Holdings Inc., the company reported.
Along with its earnings, the company also announced the launch of a new product, the Dice Talent Network.
Dice Holdings said it earned $3.7 million on revenue of $29.9 million during the quarter, compared with net income of $2.8 million on revenue of $27 million during the second quarter of 2009.
For the first six months of 2010, Dice Holdings earned nearly $7 million, up 5 percent from the first half of last year.
In addition to Dice.com, a recruitment website for technology employers and job-seekers, and eFinancialCareers, a recruitment site for financial careers, Dice Holdings operates ClearanceJobs.com, AllHealthcareJobs.com, WorldWideWorker.com and Dice Career Fairs.
The Dice Talent Network enables companies to build a network of career-minded technology professionals with interest in their companies. Employers can communicate directly via real-time chat or instant message as well as release network-wide announcements about new positions or opportunities. With an enhanced profile, the employer can offer — at their discretion — a more personal and introspective look at the company and its culture to technology professionals.
Learning hub for Tech Insiders – Dice Learning
IT career site Dice.com has just launched Dice Learning, with more than 64,000 courses for technology job candidates. Some courses are face to face, some are virtual. As job seekers post resumes to Dice, the Dice Learning program crawls the information to suggest appropriate courses to each candidate. Some tech courses offer certification. Pre-screened teaching vendors include Citrix, Cisco, Red Hat, Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, CompTIA, VMWare, Hewlett Packard, and SAP.
Sample courses we looked at varied between $99 for a lesson in inventory management and physical inventory to $4000 to learn about the Sun Java composite application platform suite. Financing is available and should a student fail the course Dice Learning guarantees a refund.
ERE’s John Zappe, a long-time recruitment-industry expert, posted an excellent review of the Dice Learning product.
International holdings boost Dice’s quarter
Dice Holdings Inc., which operates IT-focused Dice.com and finance-jobs EFinancialCareers.com on several continents, reported Q3 revenues of 4 percent over the same quarter of 2007, or $39.6 million.
Not surprising, Dice’s international assets bolstered the quarter. EFinancialCareers.com non-U.S. operations was the big driver, which accounted for 25 percent of Dice Holdings’ consolidated revenues in the third quarter. Its North American counterpart, which also includes JobsintheMoney.com and Targeted Job Fairs of 2008, decreased 19 percent from the same quarter of 2007.
Q3 operating income grew 7 percent to $11.0 million from $10.3 million in the comparable quarter of 2007, as a result of higher revenues and lower amortization of intangible assets.
Net income for the quarter totaled $6.4 million, an increase of 52 percent from $4.2 million in Q307.
