WeGoLook, safe-classifieds startup
The topic of safe classifieds is at the forefront of many new listing sites, and multiple online discussions. It’s an issue that ultimately shut down Craigslist’s erotic services categories, and was the catalyst behind such new sites as Safelist.com and Some365.com. Sadly, it’s what newspapers have been offering for decades, through stringent policies that oversaw each ad placed and disallowed anything that hinted of erotic services.
I say sadly, because newspapers are failing to point this out. In the midst of this safe-classified frenzy, it would behoove these traditional classified publishers to shout SAFE from their home page and classified vertical landing page rooftops. Now there’s a new option they might consider to help do this. It’s called WeGoLook.com. Continue reading

Geebo.com publishes VolunteerMatch.org listings
Classifieds portal Geebo.com has struck a deal with VolunteerMatch.org to publish listings of volunteer opportunities across the U.S.
It’s a distribution first for VolunteerMatch.org.
“We are excited about this new opportunity to work with VolunteerMatch.org to help build and support communities,” said Geebo.com CEO Greg Collier. “Not only does volunteerism strengthen and revitalize our communities, but in this time of high unemployment, volunteering may also give the individual jobseeker new ways to connect with organizations — perhaps even getting a foot in the door that could lead to a new job down the road.”
Geebo.com, which usually charges $75 for recruitment ads, offers free postings to nonprofits. It also has provided free advertising for causes such as the Hurricane Katrina disaster, Samoa Tsunami and Haiti Earthquake relief efforts, and even waived its $75 employer job posting fees during a period of particular national economic challenge.
“While our focus at Geebo.com is classified advertising, we have always been intentional about supporting positive community activities, providing exceptional value, and contributing in meaningful ways to the 145 cities we serve across America,” Collier said.

Collier recently sat for a very candid interview about his 10-year-old company, its growth and future, and his philosophy concerning classifieds. The video is on YouTube.
Geebo offers free job listings in May
Geebo, a Craigslist style classifieds service that offers free listings except for employment is now making posting a job for free too, at least for the month of May. Job listings usually cost employers $75 per post. Employers will be able to post an unlimited amount of listings.
The company is making a big deal over its offer, calling it “an act of goodwill” in “tough economic times” unlike “other job boards concerned with their personal bottom line.”
It’s also a good marketing tactic.
Geebo covers San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Miami, Chicago, Dallas, Austin, Phoenix, Washington, DC, and Seattle.
