Hitwise: Yahoo Real Estate solidly on top
Once again, as of October 30, Yahoo Real Estate is the ranking leader for online visits, jumping from a reported 5.87 percent at the end of September to the current 8.79 percent. FrontDoor.com rather quickly advanced to number 9, Realtor.com picked up a tiny bit of market share, Zillow lost some but retained its number 3 position, while Zillow gained a bit and stayed in 4th place.

It’s the second month in a row that Yahoo Real Estate beat out Realtor.com for number one traffic spot on the Hitwise monthly category traffic list, though not by much. Zillow and Trulia kept their number three and four spots, though ConnectWithLife.com made significant progress up the traffic ladder. Most notable was the giant leap forward of HGTV’s Frontdoor.com, now taking the number ten spot on the Hitwise list.

For the first time since Hitwise has been studying traffic on real estate sites, Realtor.com is not in the number one slot. Yahoo Real Estate took over the first place position as of the week ending Sept. 18, and perhaps as a result of its team up with number three Zillow.com . Continue reading
Google picks up auto, shopping searchers in May
Hitwise just announced that Google is the resource for slightly more than 72 percent of online searchers, as of May 2010. The search giant’s slight increase over April is due to a 10 percent increase in auto searches, a 13 percent increase in shopping, and a 6 percent jump in travel. Where it lost ground, perhaps to Bing, is in the health category.
