Global real estate search via Realtor.com
Realtor.com has long been the top-visited U.S. real estate search site, as studied by Hitwise, expect for a few recent weeks when Yahoo Real Estate topped the charts. The Move, Inc. site of the National Association of Realtors (NAR) is now expanding its presence beyond the U.S., however, adding translation services and personalized views to its repertoire. This isn’t as curious a move as one might think – 575,000 online visitors to Realtor.com live outside the United States. Real estate vertical publishers would do well to look at the stats below, and update their products and approach to agent advertisers accordingly.
Realtors Property Resource update
On the Realtors’ Property Resource blog by National Association of Realtors (NAR) you can now view the latest RPR product – a U.S. map that shows you which MLS, and how many Realtors, now belong to RPR. The numbers are far from all-encompassing, but they are making progress. The 49,000 members of SoCal MLS out of Anaheim have joined RPR, as has every Realtor in Rhode Island. Continue reading

Overexuberance of homeownership caused crisis, FHA chair tells NAR
David Stevens, U.S. housing secretary and Federal Housing Administration (FHA) chair David Stevens, was the keynote speaker at the NAR Midyear Legislative Conference and Trade Show in Washington, DC. He had harsh words about what led to the U.S. housing crisis, an event that “nearly brought the international economy to its knees,” he told the Realtor audience.
