With Flyerboard, local advertisers can create online ads that mimic flyers on bulletin boards. The ads can run on newspaper websites and can be shared on social networks.
PaperG reaches deals with Gannett, NY Times Regional Group
PaperG Inc., which provides a self-service advertising product called Flyerboard, announced deals with four media companies to deploy Flyerboard. The new partners include the New Jersey Web properties of Gannett, starting on page one of APP.com (Asbury Park Press), the New York Times Regional Group, starting in California with PressDemocrat.com, the New York Post, and Metromix LLC, a joint venture backed by Gannett Co., Inc. and Tribune Company.
To create Flyerboard, PaperG took the popular concept of the cork bulletin board and repurposed it for the Web to give small businesses an easy, inexpensive and social media-enabled vehicle to promote themselves in their local markets. The full press release is here.
Newsday joins PaperG fold
Newsday is the latest major newspaper company to add PaperG’s “Flyerboard” online advertising unit to its Web sites. Newsday will use Flyerboard in its online neighborhood sections.
Flyerboard is a virtual bulletin board on which businesses can post flyers to advertise their services and events. It gives local businesses an intuitive, inexpensive vehicle to attract customers, and provides an easy entry into online advertising.
Newsday will offer different Flyerboards for each region of Long Island, so that any businesses will be able to reach nearby local residents. Each Flyer ad will come with built-in community features like maps, email sharing, and social networking to make the ad useful and easy to pass along to friends.
“We were looking for a solution that would provide our local businesses the ability to easily and effectively promote and target their messages online,” explained Andrea Rothchild, Newsday’s Vice President of Classified Advertising. “Flyerboard is perfect for a diverse, community-driven region like Long Island.”
PaperG, which was founded in 2007 by former students of Yale and Harvard universities, recently added Hearst to its list of clients.
