Patch.com record traffic, heavy ad staff recruitment
Patch.com is growing its content audience and its locations nearly by leaps and bounds, and as the new momentum builds the ad revenue is almost sure to follow. Now at 300 local sites, the AOL-owned local news and information platform realized a 300 percent jump in traffic on November 8, US election day. Beet.tv reported the statistics, saying that the most-trafficked Patch site was Santa Cruz, Calif., one of its newest. Patch president Warren Webster told Beet.tv that by the end of 2010 another 200 sites will have launched.
Editorial staff at Patch are seasoned professionals, and two of every three of them are making more than they were in their pre-Patch days. Now, the ongoing, heavily-advertised Patch openings in various parts of the country include advertising jobs, which we can only assume will offer a competitive wage. The list of openings is extensive, from sales rep to regional advertising manager, and most are work at home opportunities. Indiana, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, California, New Jersey, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, and Missouri all offer telecommute openings. Chicago publishers should get ready for an onslaught of Patch ad rep sales competition, as Patch solicits in and around Chicago for local online sales executives. The same is true for Los Angeles and Atlanta. In all, we found 180 job openings in the advertising field.
