Confused about the new federal “Cash for Clunkers” legislation? Head on over to AutoTrader.com where the automotive classifieds site will explain it all.

The Cash for Clunkers law offers vouchers of up to $4,500 when buyers trade older vehicles with lower estimated miles per gallon (MPG) and purchase new cars with a higher MPG.  Voucher amounts vary based on the amount of MPG improvement between the older vehicle and the new one.

AutoTrader.com will direct visitors to its Cash for Clunkers page to fuel efficient cars listed on the site (you didn’t really think the company was just being helpful, did you?)
