Bye-bye: Print Help-Wanted Index folds

Since 1951, The Conference Board, a New York-based research organization, has published its Help-Wanted Index of print recruitment advertising. It’s based on surveys of 51 major daily newspapers around the U.S. each month.

It seems an obvious (if a bit flippant) remark to make:

“Is the Help-Wanted Index going the way of print help-wanted advertising?" (Or is it the other way around?)

Perhaps. The Conference Board announced it’s going to stop publishing the print index after June, although it will still produce the index for research purposes. The group began publishing an index of online recruitment advertising in July 2005. (The online index is sponsored by CareerBuilder and based on data from Wanted Technologies.)
