Gannett buys social-media Ripple6
Gannett said today it paid an undisclosed sum to acquire Ripple6, which provides social-media technology and related analytics.
Ripple6 is the platform on which Gannett runs its MomsLikeMe.com network, local, social sites for mothers, now in 80 U.S. markets.
Ripple6 will become a unit of Gannett. It also powers social-media properties for Proctor & Gamble and a fan site for the long-running soap opera Guiding Light, among others.
The move is part of an effort by Gannett to expand its digital business.
