Twingr hopes to be a less chaotic Twitter
Twitter too chaotic for you? Try Twingr, kind of a “Ning for micro-blogging.” Twingr lets you create your own Twitter-like site organized around a specific topic or group that you designate.
Twingr is a bit like Yammer, which we wrote about here. Yammer lets companies create their own micro-blogging networks. Twingr opens that up to anyone.
The basic idea is the same in all of these new sites. You can send out 140 character messages, follow what other people in your Twingr group are saying, and send direct messages to them.
Twingr was started by Killer Starups (which recently bought Startups.com).
Twingr may be a cool alternative to Twitter, but the tweeting king is working on its own version of groups that would do much the same thing. Plus, if you’ve already spent time building out your Twitter network, do you really want to start over again.
Twingr is in private alpha so sign up quick and kick the tires.
