StepStone, the Norway-based global recruitment-solutions company, has bought Les Villages Emploi, a French company that operates four Web sites, including a job-aggregator board and three specialized job boards that cover technical, sales and administrative jobs.
The purchase is StepStone’s second in France since December and complements its French job sites Sourcea.fr and StepStone.fr. StepStone said it will pay €3.6 million in cash for Les Villages Emploi and make further payments in 2009 depending upon financial performance.
Les Village Emploi’s founder, Claude Levy, will continue to lead his company but will report to Valerie Vaillant, general director of StepStone France Online, and Les Villages Emploi’s Web sites will continue to operate independently alongside StepStone.fr and Sourcea.fr.
The purchase follows rival CareerBuilder’s acquisition earlier this month of one of France’s most popular employment sites, Lesjeudis.com. That sale was estimated at €50 million in the French press.
