Dow Jones has reported that publicly traded Salary.com has laid off about 100 employees, roughly 16 percent of its workforce.
Salary.com allows employers to access salary data across specific jobs. With employers not hiring as much these days, demand is down for Salary.com’s service and, as a result, so are revenues.
The company was also hit when it lost Yahoo HotJobs as a client for its consumer play in September 2008 to competitor PayScale. Tools offered by PayScale include real time salary information, analytics and an anonymous salary comparison tool.
