What do you get when you mashup Craigslist with Facebook? Corkin, a new Web site that allows users to post and search for classifieds but also comment on those listings, create profiles, and send private messages.

The name comes from the ubiquitous “corkboards” you find outside local supermarkets, libraries and on college campuses.

The whole experience is a bit bizarre. How exactly does posting a public comment help the person looking to buy a DVD player? And do you really need to know that a seller is “in a relationship” (see the profile here).

The site was built by two ex-MySpacers: Keith Boster who co-wrote the first version of the MySpace code, and Paul Kats who was MySpace’s first performance and scaling engineer.
