Employers and job candidates have a new way to meet: via podcast. The Jobs in Pods Web site posts a new audio interview program every few days. The podcasts – which can be listened to on the site itself or from a downloadable client such as iTunes – feature executives from hiring companies who describe what it’s like to work there, what roles are available, and what the company is looking for in a potential applicant.

Recent companies interviewed have included EMC VMWare, Merck Manufacturing, and General Electric.

At the end of each podcast, listeners are told how and where to apply for the jobs they’ve just heard about. Podcasts have accompanying blog posts which include all the links. Podcasts on the site are categorized by type and location.

Podcasting is still a niche way for employers to get the word out. According to the Pew Internet & American Life Project, just under 20 percent of Internet users in the U.S. say they have downloaded a podcast.

Jobs In Pods charges employers $349 for a 1 on 1 interview, $399 for up to 3 people from the hiring company. Jobs in Pods is also pushing a once a month “series” option of $4,188 a year.

Each podcast runs between 7 to 10 minutes.
