Report: Newspaper advertising takes sharp drop in first quarter

Newspaper advertising suffered the sharpest drop in generations during the first quarter of 2009, down 30 percent for some papers, The New York Times reported.

The newspaper industry was already in its worst slump since the Great Depression, the Times quoted financial analysts.
