U.S. Gannett papers’ revenues fall 28% on quarter; classifieds off 39%

Gannett Co. said ad revenues fell 28 percent in the first quarter at its more than 80 U.S. daily newspapers. Classified revenues for U.S. publishers were 39 percent lower reflecting declines of 36.6 percent in real estate, 60 percent in employment and almost 33 percent in automotive.
