Here’s something you probably didn’t know about Don Hewitt: His father was a classified advertising manager for the Boston American.

         Hewitt, the legendary CBS News producer and developer of the TV show “60 Minutes,” died Wednesday. He started his journalism career as a copyboy at The New York Herald Tribune.

         (And a tip of the hat to The New York Times, which as usual had a masterfully written obit with lots of colorful detail like that.)
