Muutu.com launched its classified aggregator site at TechCrunch50 in San Francisco. Calling it the EBay of classified ads, representatives demonstrated a slick classified site with a number of very nice features. Consumers can cast a thumbs-up or down vote on the various listings, can save their favorites, map the seller’s location and find out the distance from theirs as well. They can also post in Spanish.  FastCompany has suggested that Muutu, with aggregation from Craigslist, other pure plays and newspaper classifieds might become a Craigslist competitor.

One thing it does have in common with CL and others such as BackPage are those pesky Casual Encounters ads. The ads were far too graphic to include here, but as Craigslist is singled out for anti-erotic badgering by 40+ U.S. attorneys general, it may well be that Muutu.com, like others before it, can make some money from allowing what public officials ignore on all but Craigslist.

While at first glance the site is attractive and easy to navigate, a quick study in a search for a Chevy shows extremely unattractive layout. For example, an ad on Craigslist which read:

Im selling my chevy s10 its a v6 in great condition but i am looking for a bigger stronger pick up. its a good gas saver

everything it has:
bedliner
ext cab
warm heater
cold ac
great stereo
cd player
18 city 22 highway
v6 automatic
2wd

became the following sorry mess on Muutu.com:

Im selling my chevy s10 its a v6 in great condition but i am looking for a bigger stronger pick up. its a good gas savereverything it has:bedlinerext cabwarm heatercold acgreat stereocd player18 city 22 highwayv6 automatic 2wd.

Muutu.com will undoubtedly have its followers, and the issues with layout are fixable. Its primary obstacle is funding, according to FastCompany.
