Home-owners considering to avoid the traditional, high-street estate agent when selling their properties, now have a new site to help them. SellingUp.com launched this week and now rates online estate agents by their prices and the services they offer. SellingUp.com also features guides on how online estate agents work, and how to pick one that is right for you.

As you would expect from a comparison service, the site puts operators in a league table which can be set either by price, or the size of the company, judged by how many homes they have on their books. In addition, customers can tick services which are important to them, such as a host to show potential buyers around the property, or a negotiator, or the more standard offerings of a ‘for sale’ sign, photographs and a floor plan.

By size alone, and with no particular service requested, it rates the top five online estate agents as eMoov, House Network, House Simple, Hatched and Purple Bricks.

The site was launched with advertising from Tepilo, an online estate agency set up by television real estate star Sarah Beeny. It claims this is where it will make its money, alongside ‘referral relationships’ and advertorials, which, it claims, will not interfere with its editorial independence to produce search results based on the customer’s requirements and market data, rather than on any commercial deal with a provider.

Oliver Lewis, founder of SellingUp.com, commented on the launch of the site: “Online estate agents are really starting to challenge the established high street rivals by vastly undercutting their large commission fees. What we have created is more than just a price comparison tool, it’s a quick way for property sellers to get an at-a-glance understanding of which online agents can deliver the services they need.”
