Akhtaboot to host 7th Job Fair in Jordan

10 Aug 2016

Akhtaboot.com (Arabic for Octypus), an online career network, will host job fairs in three different cities in Jordan, namely Amman, Irbid, and Aqaba, in the coming months.

The three career events will be the largest such gatherings in Jordan, where employers and job-seekers will meet at one, convenient location for the benefit of all.

“Akhtaboot’s 7th Job Fair confirms our commitment to the Akhtaboot Cares Initiative, our corporate social responsibility program”, said Yousef Shamoun, CEO and co-founder of Akhtaboot. “The three job fairs were strategically designed across the Kingdom to provide the ideal networking platform for job-seekers and employers everywhere,” he added.

This year’s job fairs will be supported by USAID Jordan Competitiveness Program and will feature leading Jordanian companies in the ICT, clean technology, and healthcare and life sciences sectors, in addition to a number of other industries offering a wide range of job opportunities.

“By pairing job-seekers with leading knowledge-economy employers, Akhtaboot is doing a great service to both,” said Wissam Rabadi, chief of USAID JCP.

The fairs, which will consist of two-day, exhibition-style events featuring courses on various career-advancement topics, will take place as follows:
• Irbid on 17 and 18 August at Irbid Grand Hall, Al-Hasan Youth City;
• Amman on 21 and 22 September at Amman Grand Hall, Al-Hussein Youth City;
• Aqaba on 9 and 10 November 2016 at Dhana Hall, Intercontinental Hotel Aqaba.

Last year’s job fair in Amman attracted more than 20,000 job-seekers and more than 85 companies.

Initially set up in 2007 to serve the Jordanian market, Akhtaboot.com’s goal is to become a career network for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and today operates in nine countries (Jordan, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon, Kuwait and Iraq).

The main competitor of Akhtaboot.com, which counted 265,000 visitors in July to its desktop and mobile websites (source: Similarweb.com), in Jordan and the Middle East is Bayt.com, founded in 2001. Bayt.com is the undisputed leader in the field.
