AutoTrader South Africa sponsors ‘Car of the Year’ awards

In an indication of the growing influence of digital services in the automotive sector, AutoTrader South Africa has signed up as a sponsor and digital / marketing partner of the South African Wesbank Car of the Year Awards.
“With AutoTrader, the largest and most successful online vehicle buying and selling platform in South Africa, as a partner, we are excited about the prospects for the latest competition, and we look forward to working with [them],” said Bernard Hellberg, chairman of the South African Guild of Motoring Journalists, which hosts the awards.
AutoTrader.co.za, which is not affiliated with any of the other AutoTrader sites worldwide, attracted about 4.2 million visits in the last six months, according to Effective Measure. It has about 64,000 vehicles listed, and still publishes several print titles as well as its website.
George Mienie, AutoTrader CEO, said the company was honored to be part of the event.
“AutoTrader … would like to use our expertise in the field of digital marketing and diverse platforms to support the [Guild] with this competition,” he said, adding that he hopes it will become a long-term relationship.
AutoTrader has been strengthening its brand exposure with a motoring show on online radio station Cliff Central and a partnership with television breakfast show Expresso. It plans to use those channels to promote the Car of the Year awards.
