Dubizzle.com, the UAE’s leading general classifieds platform, appointed Samer Abdin as general manager for property. In this role, he will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of and strategy for the property section to grow the platform’s user engagement, traffic and revenue.
This news follows shortly after Dubizzle’s appointment of Jean-Pierre Mondalek as general manager of motors, Vineet Singla as general manager of new business and director of product, and Anthony Blackford as head of display advertising.
Dubizzle has more than 2.1 million monthly active users (source: Dubizzle). More than 70 percent of them visit the property section, which receives more than 240,000 listings per month.
“I am excited to join Dubizzle at a time when the number of users looking to buy, sell or rent property is growing exponentially, whether they are on the website or the mobile app. My first order of business to maintain this momentum will be to roll out an ambitious suite of products that will complement the listings on the platform,” said Abdin.
Abdin’s experience is rooted in SMEs, whether they are in the start-up stage, or more established. He previously founded a web-based subscription video on demand (SVOD) platform that offers premium Arabic television and film programming. Prior to that, he worked at start-ups, such as Dwight Cavendish Systems, spent time with Boston Consulting Group as a strategy and early-growth specialist. He has also traded financial derivatives.
Dubizzle was launched in 2005, and is an OLX company. The latter is available in more than 50 countries and in over 50 languages. Dubizzle is headquartered in the UAE, and operates in Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Tunisia.
