Baty will take over from Sean Glithero, who will return to a previously held job of finance director.

Baty joined Auto Trader as deputy company secretary in July 2015, but boasts an impressive CV, which includes positions at betting company Betfair, media group Centaur and Thomson Legal & Regulatory, the strategic business unit of information company Thomson Corporation.

This appointment comes as Auto Trader successfully defends its position as the auto site with most listings in the U.K., with more than 430,000 vehicles listed daily. According to the company, over 80 percent of U.K. auto retailers advertise on, which averages 60 million visits per month (source: site).
