Investors fund Spanish job site BeWanted

31 Oct 2016

Spanish recruitment site BeWanted, formerly Alumni Global Search, raised €600,000 ($660,000 U.S.) from various business angels. The platform, founded by Juan Torroba of executive recruitment firm Acheron Partners, is designed to help university students and recent-graduates find their first jobs.

This new round is the first funding the company has taken since Alumni Global Search was rebranded to BeWanted in May 2016 – three years after launching in 2013. According to Crunchbase, it took $300,000 in seed funding in September 2015.

The platform’s key feature is that it matches candidates with potential roles via its Job Rank algorithmbewanted. Students or recent-graduates create profiles outlining their studies, experience, desired jobs and geographical preferences. The algorithm looks for placements and alerts the recruiter of suitable candidates. The companies can then contact the candidate to begin the selection process.

BeWanted also offers candidates a dashboard to track offers and manage their searches.

According to the BeWanted website, the company has an office in Mexico, in addition to its Madrid headquarters. It says it has over 95,000 registered users and more than 500 companies across all sectors.

Reporting on the new investment, Loogic noted that it has worked with more than 2,000 companies and facilitated around 175,000 “invitations to participate in the [job] selection process”.
