Allegro appoints Maciej Biniek as payments director

Allegro Group, operator of, Poland’s largest marketplace for new and used goods, appointed Maciej Biniek as director of payments – a newly created position in the company.

Biniek (photo left and his LinkedIn profile) is responsible for the development of financial products for Allegro’s users and for cooperation with payment service providers.

Also, he will supervise the launching of Allegro’s own online payment system, developed with external partners. It is to replace Naspers’ PayU payment system currently used by Allegro (more).

Biniek joined Allegro from … yes, you guessed it … PayU, where he was managing director of PayU Group Europe, and a board member. His switch is so “fresh”, that he hasn’t even had time to update his LinkedIn profile. (Interesting that his PayU employment contract allowed him such a switch without a “resting period” between jobs – editor.)

Earlier, he worked at BZ WBK, where he was involved in the development of retail banking products. He also worked for Visa Europe and eCard.
