Blanchard joins Shwy Property as investor, advisor

The French internet entrepreneur Gilles Blanchard, who co-founded the country’s leading property vertical, joined Myanmar’s ShweProperty as an advisor and investor, the media reported.

The amount of funding invested by Blanchard in ShweProperty was not disclosed.

Blanchard (LinkedIn profile here) was a co-founder of SeLoger, which was sold to Axel Springer for €634 million ($723 million U.S.) in 2011.

He already works with a number of property verticals in Asia, being the chairman of in Pakistan, the chairman of a Dubai-based property portal, and working with – a leading real estate site in Bangladesh. He is also a member of the board and investor at, a classified site in Cameroon and Cote d’Ivoire.

The funding from Blanchard comes on the heels of a Series A funding round that ShweProperty completed earlier this year (we reported here).


Anastasia Gnezditskaia

Anastasia Gnezditskaia has joined AIM Group in 2014 as a writer/analyst covering France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Eastern Europe. A Russian living in Antwerp, Belgium, she has a background working for trade publications covering markets and their regulation. She is educated at Moscow State Lomonosov University (MA in psychology) and Central European University (PhD in public policy). After obtaining her doctoral degree, she taught international political economy at George Washington University in Washington DC where she lived for 10 years. Following this she managed international development projects in Africa at the World Bank, and worked as a journalist covering Congress, federal government agencies and commodity markets, particularly shale gas development in North America.
