The news served as confirmation that Flipkart wants to run EBay as a separate business closely linked to Flipkart.

Before Flipkart, Goteti was a management consultant at McKinsey and a senior systems engineer at Qualcomm (look at his LinkedIn profile). He joined Flipkart in 2012.

Both EBay and Flipkart are locked in a fierce battle for market share with – a battle which Amazon is still winning at this stage, as measured by visits to the platforms. According to audience stats site, received 225 million visits to its desktop and mobile sites in July.

In April last year, EBay Inc., based in San Jose, California, chipped its EBay India business plus $500 million U.S. in for a non-controlling stake in Flipkart.

This was done as part of a $1.4-billion funding round led by Microsoft and Chinese internet company Tencent.

Both Flipkart and are positioned to leverage cross-border trade, which will enable Flipkart’s customers to access global inventory on EBay, while Flipkart sellers will also get access to EBay customers, giving them a chance to sell outside India, Economic Times reported.
