Sometimes, “insider” news is of the bad variety. Sometimes it’s so-so. This is definitely in the “we’re glad he’s alive” category. Best wishes to our friend Jeff Dickey-Chasins, the “Job-Board Doctor,” a sometimes-collaborator and sometimes-competitor who works with job boards.
Dickey-Chasins suffered a heart attack or two last week. Chest pain, arm pain, nausea. Blocked arteries. But add in a few stents and some drugs, and he’s almost back to new.
He wrote about it in his weekly newsletter, offering this cautionary tale: “Most importantly, listen to your body: If you start feeling bad – and believe me, my chest was pretty unambiguous about the pain – get help. … If I hadn’t gone into the emergency room that afternoon, if I hadn’t already been in the hospital when my heart attack began, I would most likely be dead.
“Next week I’ll be back on the recruiting beat. But right now, I’m just going to enjoy breathing.”
A good thing for all of us to remember.
