Icims adds TextRecruit to its service offerings

09 Jan 2018

Recruitment software company Icims has bought TextRecruit Inc., in an effort to help its customers speed up their hiring.

Icims, which offers applicant tracking systems, announced the acquisition in a media statement on Monday.

Based in California, TextRecruit is a candidate engagement suite that offers text messaging, live chat and artificial intelligence to communicate to “help organizations hire better people, faster.” It’s based on the concept that modern job candidates prefer text communication to email.

TextRecruit launched its first product in 2015 using the Icims’ Unifi platform, and has been expanding its portfolio ever since. It has more than 400 customers including Liberty Mutual, Six Flags, and Monster Worldwide, Inc., with which TextRecruit signed a working agreement in December.

TextRecruit has built a rapidly growing business by developing tools for targeting job candidates via text message and mobile apps, rather than email.

Icims SVP Michael Wilczak said TextRecruit’s passion for improving the candidate experience impressed him. “After integrating the product via Unifi and launching it in our marketplace, our customers immediately recognized the value of TextRecruit and began to rapidly purchase it as an add-on to the Icims Talent Acquisition Suite.”

“The strong product capabilities, growing customer base, and mutual commitment to customer success made TextRecruit a logical acquisition for Icims,” Wilczak said.

TextRecruit will continue to operate as a subsidiary of Icims. It will also bring its configurable automated recruiter interface to Icims’ customers. The system uses natural language processing and AI to automate communication with candidates via chatbots.

TextRecruit cofounder and CEO Erik Kostelnik said he sees the merger as a perfect fit. “We serve many of the same customers and partners, offer complementary products, and most importantly, have the same deep values that drive our respective cultures.”
