Spanish business-to-business (b-to-b) marketplace has launched in London, following a test period that began in September 2017. The transport marketplace connects businesses that have shipping needs with freelance professional drivers.

The AIM Group reported on OnTruck and what the business does in July 2017.

El Español newspaper reported that the company has handled 1,000 order and its drivers have covered 130,000 kilometers during its soft launch in London. Its launch strategy in the U.K. mirrors its approach to the Spanish market, where OnTruck got its start, providing b-to-b services in the Madrid and Barcelona areas before expanding to cover Valencia, Alicante, and Castellon.

According to the write-up in El Español, the London operation has enjoyed 40 percent month on month growth and the company plans to rapidly expand into other major U.K. cities including Birmingham, Manchester, and Glasgow.

OnTruck was founded in 2016 by Antonio Lu (LinkedIn profile), Gonzalo Parejo Navajas (LinkedIn profile) and Iñigo Juantegui (LinkedIn profile); who also co-founded food delivery firm La Nevera Roja. It has raised around $12 million in two funding rounds, the latest of which was a $10 million round led by Atomico and Indivest (CrunchBase figures).

The company was selected as one of the “start-ups with the brightest future” by Spanish business magazine Actualidad Económica in its Best Start-ups in Spain Awards 2017, held in association with La Caixa Bank.

OnTruck is reportedly considering launching in France and/or Germany as well, but no further details have been announced. homepage
