Rumors are rife that former OLX India CEO Amarjit Singh Batra is likely to head music streaming giant Spotify‘s expansion plans for India.

Batra (LinkedIn profile) moved to  OLX’s parent company Naspers in Sept. 2017. A Naspers representative has confirmed that Amarjit indeed left the company at the end of March.

After more than a decade with OLX, most of the credit for the company’s success goes to Batra. Toward the end of his tenure, OLX boasted over 70 percent market share. The site’s meteoric rise to the top is characterized by the initial widespread advertising followed by a surge in growth.

Spotify CEO Daniel Ek (LinkedIn profile) has been vocal about the company’s expansion agenda, reaffirming the plans at an investor day presentation in March. Taking the company’s current traction in the music streaming market into account, appointing a leader of Batra’s caliber makes sense.

His appointment as head of Spotify India is expected to be officially announced in May, according to Loudest.in.
