Japanese general classifieds site Jimoty (at Jmty.jp) has introduced a tool which lets users get push notifications when their favorite sellers upload new listings.
Announced last month, the function was initially introduced for iOS and Android apps. Users can select a “follow” button on a seller’s profile to receive listing alerts. Selecting the “following” button will cancel the feature.
Tokyo-based Jimoty Ltd. has been operating with a freemium business model since February 2011.
The site faces category competition from real estate site Suumo.jp, used-cars marketplace CarSensor.net, flea market Mercari and a myriad of job portals. Jmty saw 11.8 million visitors to its desktop and mobile sites in June, according to SimilarWeb. Its app has been installed up to one million times (source: Google Play).
