Start-up BitStar Inc., which runs a matching site to connect influencers and companies at BitStar.Tokyo, has raised 1.3 billion yen ($11.8 million U.S.) in a funding round led by Japanese early stage venture capital firm GlobalBrains.

Announced on MondayMakersFund, Intage Open Innovation Fund, ABC Dream Ventures, ColoplNext, WrightFlyer and local banks also participated in the round.

Tokyo-based influencer marketing business BitStar Inc. was founded in 2014. It operates a YouTube channel producer Edge, a simple notification service for influencers at Ipr.Tokyo and an online community to connect influencers and their fans at Co-Star.me.

BitStar said it will use the fund to further strengthen its infrastructure.

Affiliencer LLC  introduced an app to connect companies with job-seeking key opinion leaders, models, and other brand influencers in Japan and Vietnam last month (we reported on it here).

The market is abuzz with industry-specific jobs-matching sites and apps including Muse-Party.com for female models, CloudCasting.jp for showbiz industry and Job.Cosp.jp for cosplay models.
