Tradus, the used commercial vehicle and heavy equipment marketplace owned by OLX Group, launched in Germany earlier this month as it continues global expansion.

The site launched in the Netherlands, OLX’s headquarters, in early 2017 and initially concentrated on growth in Eastern Europe. Germany is only its second Western European launch. “Used machine trade between Eastern and Western Europe is booming, and increased cost awareness is driving demand on both sides,” Guylain Turgeon, VP of global sales for Tradus, said in an announcement (in German).

As a nation of industry, Germany has the biggest potential in the predominately western European supplier market when it comes to finding strong partners for high-quality products,” he added explaining why Germany was an obvious choice.

Tradus, which operates as a traditional classified ad platform, already lists 65,000 vehicles in Germany — the second highest volume after the Netherlands. Overall, the site has 470,000 ads from 6,000 suppliers.

Tradus completed formal rollouts in Romania in October 2017 and in Poland in March 2018, but it has always featured listings from multiple countries. It is now a truly global site, available in 21 languages with listings from 46 countries, including Hong Kong, the U.S., and Israel. Ads are automatically translated into all languages.

According to OLX Group, the trade volume of used equipment is more than $400 billion U.S. globally per year, with annual growth rates in the double digits.
