Tokyo-based Crowd Works Inc. has appointed Yuya Taketani as an outside director of the company. Taketani (LinkedIn profile) is currently serving as representative director and CEO of news curation application Gunosy.
Crowd Works has been serving the gig economy since 2011. The company owns and operates a career-support service for freelance engineers and designers at CrowdTech.jp. It also runs an online billing agency service for freelancers at Feecle.Works, c-to-c skills marketplace at WowMe.jp, and an information portal for freelancers at Times.
The staffing firm has more than 2.3 million members across the country.
CrowdTech recently introduced an evaluation system for visualizing registered freelancers’ “soft skills’” to help employers choose suitable candidates. The evaluation system visualizes the quality of communication and commitment of freelancers during a certain project’s period. Results are then reflected as individual achievements in soft skills.
In the future, it will give scores on skills and make use of data for automatic matching. Other notable freelance job-matching sites in Japan include Pro-Freelancer.com, AiWorks.fun, Freelance.Levtec.jp, AppStars.io, and A-Star.co.jp.
