Rental parking app Akippa has started a system collaboration with real estate management companies to automatically aggregate listings on its platform.

Akippa Inc. has been operating with two offices in Tokyo and Osaka since 2009. It launched the app in 2014. The parking lot reservation app has more than 1 million members and offers parking spaces in more than 24,000 locations nationwide. It allows individuals to post and register parking spaces for free.

Akippa raised 2.4 billion yen ($22 million U.S.) last year through a third-party allotment of shares to seven companies including Japan Post Capital and Sumitomo Corp.

Realtors — who manage parking lots owned by multiple owners — currently need to post listings manually. Listing automation will improve the system’s efficiency.

Akippa has also signed agreements with municipalities to deal with insufficient parking spaces by promoting a sharing economy.

The major real estate verticals in Japan — and — already showcase rental parking spaces. launched its short-term parking app in Apr. 2017 but the service was inactive when we last checked.
